At Oasis Play Nursery, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, caring, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is protected from harm, valued as an individual and given the opportunity to thrive. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
The DSL manages safeguarding concerns, makes referrals where appropriate, liaises with external agencies, maintains confidential records, supports staff, ensures safeguarding training is up to date and reviews safeguarding procedures.
All safeguarding concerns must be recorded promptly, factually, signed, dated and stored securely.
Safeguarding information will only be shared where necessary to protect a child and in accordance with safeguarding legislation.
All staff receive safeguarding induction, regular updates, Prevent training, online safety awareness and annual refresher training.
Children are protected from inappropriate content, online grooming, cyberbullying and unsafe use of technology.
Staff receive Prevent training and understand how to recognise and report concerns relating to radicalisation and extremism.
Staff are encouraged to report unsafe practice or safeguarding concerns. Genuine concerns will be investigated and staff will not suffer detriment for raising them.
Any allegation against a member of staff will be reported immediately to the DSL (or provider if the allegation concerns the DSL), the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) where appropriate, and Ofsted where required.
We work in partnership with families, but where a child may be at risk of significant harm, referrals may be made without parental consent where legally appropriate.
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation changes or following safeguarding learning reviews.

Parents and carers are recognised as a child's first educators. We involve families in planning, reviewing progress and agreeing next steps.
We support smooth transitions into nursery, between rooms and when children move to school by sharing relevant information with parents and receiving settings, with consent where required.
Staff receive ongoing SEND training and the SENDCO undertakes additional professional development to ensure current knowledge and best practice.
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or guidance changes.
Oasis Play Nursery is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment where every child can learn, develop and thrive regardless of their individual needs or abilities.
